Caroline Wozniacki was born in Odense, Denmark on the 11th of July 1990 and started playing tennis when she was seven years old.
Her father, an ex-professional footballer of Polish origin, took on the role of her coach from the beginning. In 2005 she made her professional tournament debut in Cincinnati, having just turned 15 a few days beforehand.
It would only take her two more years to break into the world’s top 100 and to make her Grand Slam debut, in Roland Garros. From then on her career took off at a meteoric pace.
In 2008 she won her first WTA title in Stockholm and surprised everyone by reaching the final of the Madrid Masters in 2009. In that same year she managed to reach her first, and until now only, Grand Slam final in the US Open, finishing as runner up behind Kim Clijsters.
In 2010 she added six titles to her trophy cabinet, which catapulted her to world no1 in October 2010 aged 20. The following season she won six more titles, enabling her to remain firmly placed in the top spot of the WTA rankings for the second consecutive year.
